Feature Request: Channel Per Attribute Update to one or few attributes

Would it be possible to explore the possibility of altering the "Per Attribute Update" feature on channels so that the channel creator can define a single or set of specific attributes to consider for the check?

The current feature works well, assuming ~100 attributes or less are defined on the channel. Anything over this can cause extended processing times on the channel output, if a channel has a frequent export time, this can cause a backlog in exports which never get exported.

The new functionality I propose is similar to automation workflow triggers where we can define on created, updated, deleted or attribute updated. The value is so that only relevant updates are sent on a specific channel as the "Export only products that have updated since last export" only considers the product as a whole. For example, if we update web content (relevant only for the website), if the product is released to both website channel and ERP channel, sending the data down to ERP is irrelevant as no content exists in ERP and no genuine changes are required to be processed.

A workaround for API channels which can target a specific datetime attribute for SinceUpdated is to define in a workflow which will populate an exclusive attribute applicable to the channel with a date, this workflow is then triggered based on specific attributes being defined for automation triggers.

    Hi Colin

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I have created a ticket for this and suggested we make this a feature request.

We will keep you up to date with any advance/changes.

    Thanks,

    Jess

  • We also see a lot of updates passed to our channels when the data included in the channel itself is not changed.
